Background: Patients with Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS), a rare syndrome associated with obesity and hyperphagia, commonly manifest traits of metabolic syndrome, including abdominal obesity, impaired fasting glucose, low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, hypertriglyceridemia, and hypertension.
